Timeline

This is the reckoning of the dates and events of importance to the Whispers of the Ring timeline. All dates are according to the Gondor measurement of the passing of time. To convert Gondor dates into Shire Reckoning (S.R.) subtract 1600 years from the Gondor Date.

2890 Bilbo Baggins born in the Shire on September 22nd.

2931 Aragorn son of Arathorn II born on March 1st.

2933 Arathorn II slain.

Gilraen takes Aragorn to Imladris (Rivendell). Elrond receives him as his foster-son and gives him the name Estel (Hope); his ancestry is concealed.

2941 Bilbo Baggins takes possession of the Ring.

2942 Bilbo returns to the Shire with the Ring.

2951 Elrond reveals to 'Estel' his true name and ancestry and delivers to him the shards of Narsil.

Arwen and Aragorn meet in Imladris for the first time.

Aragorn goes into the wild.

2956 Aragorn meets Gandalf and thier friendship begins.

2968 Frodo son of Drogo born in the Shire on September 22nd

2978 Birth of Boromir son of Denethor II.

2980 Aragorn and Arwen meet in Lorien and are betrothed.

Birth of Samwise Gamgee

2982 Birth of Meriadoc Brandybuck

2990 Birth of Peregrine Took

2998 Bilbo Baggins turns 108 and leaves the Shire

3001 Bilbo Baggins turns 111 in the dungeons of Gondor.

Frodo Baggins turns 33 and becomes an adult.

Gandalf the Gray and Saruman the White rouse a host to battle the growing power in Mordor. Thus begins the War of Shadow

3003 The War of Shadow ends with devastating losses on both sides.

Gandalf the Grey goes missing.

Denethor II is slain and the Stewardship of Gondor falls to Boromir.

3004 The Wise begin thier search for the Ring.

3004-3008 Gondor grows in power and expands its borders.

3008 Frodo Baggins sets out from the Shire to search for Bilbo Baggins.

Aragorn and Legolas son of Thranduil arrive in Gondor with a summons for its Steward.

We have taken great care to keep events as close to canon as possible up until the point of divergence. So, if you see something that doesn't work, we would really appreciate hearing it! We know we have diminished the potency of the Ring on Men, but blame this on Sauron's current weakened and distracted state.
